• The overall purpose of the position of Manager (Tax Consultancy) based in Manchester is:
• To work closely with existing Partners to provide a high level of tax consultancy to clients.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Manage tax consultancy projects undertaken by the Firm.
• Market the Firm and its services with a view to developing the business in line with agreed targets.
• To assist the Partner in interviewing prospective clients.
• Assist other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for new work.
• To take an active involvement in prospective client seminars and to effectively follow up contacts made to generate new business.
• Working with the Partners to deliver ad-hoc tax planning assignments.
• To act as the principle point of contact to clients and to practise the principles of excellent client service at all times.
• To respond to clients' correspondence as a matter of priority, and to keep the client and partner fully informed of the current status of the tax work.
• To ensure that appropriate liaison takes place with other departments.
• To prepare fee budgets and agree with clients.
• To provide technical guidance, supervision and training for junior members of staff.
• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading, as requested by the line manager or Head of Department.

Who we're looking for
To be considered for the position of Manager (Tax Consultancy) you will require:
• CTA qualified
• Evidence of CPD and advanced technical knowledge
• Previous knowledge of networking with intermediaries in the local marketplace.
• Knowledge of reviewing corporate tax clients to identify planning opportunities
• Previous knowledge of share schemes, corporate reorganisations, taper relief planning, remuneration planning, shareholder exit planning, EIS/VCT.
• Previous exposure to a wide range of tax consultancy and planning
• Previous experience of tax planning based on client desires
• The ability to provide a support service to compliance clients and to win new work
• Must have strong leadership skills
• Previous experience of demonstrating commercial acumen with experience of successfully managing jobs to budget and to timetable
• A proactive thinker with excellent technical and interpersonal skills
• Analytical approach and able to use professional judgment
• A positive attitude to people development with a proven ability to delegate and develop individual's skills.
• Excellent time management skills
