The hire is one of key strategic importance, with the successful candidate joining the Operations Senior Management structure within an extremely dynamic and fast-growing environment. The individual will have direct line management responsibilities to a team of paralegals and admin assistants and will have ultimate responsibility for ensuring litigation is effected in a timely, economical & efficient manner.
The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end litigation process whilst taking personal responsibility for some of the larger and more complex cases effecting the Company in its capacity as both claimant and defendant, where necessary acting as the Company's advocate and appearing at proceedings at Court or at Tribunals.
The candidate will advise the sizable legal team and other employees on developments within legislation and case law and other matters relating to civil litigation. There will be extensive liaison with external counsel with the role also providing an opportunity for the candidate to get involved with commercial decision making processes.
Who we're looking for
The role requires a commercially astute lawyer who is able to prioritise workload dependant on which is likely to bring the greatest monetary return for the Company and its clients alike. The Company will often be instructed on a 'no recovery no fee' basis so it will be up to the individual to ensure a volume of cases are brought to fruition in a manner that is most commercially viable. Ultimately, the successful candidate will be required to take a commercial view on the work flow in order to maximise recoveries for clients whilst maximising profitability for the Company.
Ideally, you will have significant post qualification exposure to civil litigation matters with a particular expertise on the Consumer Credit Act and Data Protection Act. You will be a robust and commercially aware lawyer who has a keen desire to get involved in business decision making and ensure that the Company not only meets but exceeds its targets.
Personality wise, we are looking for a genuine 'people person' - someone who is able to get on with senior management and office juniors alike. You will also have prior management/mentoring responsibilities and be someone who is keen to provide guidance to others within the team.
