Updated April 29, 2008
New opportunities exist for Category Managers within our restructured Group Procurement function. These senior roles will involve leading teams to offer category expertise in a specific spend area which could range from IT to Marketing, Professional Services or Travel. Building relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers in order to effectively negotiate and carry out risk management will be critical.
Clearly these are influential roles requiring natural leaders with a track record in change management, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence across different functions. To be effective you will need to be accountable for:
• Category planning to ensure the department develops in line with industry best practice.
• Effective delivery of savings and the mechanism to track them.
• Internal stakeholder management and the selling of procurement values to the business.
• Supplier relationship building including high level negotiation and risk management.
• Leadership of the category team.
• Project management support.
• Compliance and contract responsibility.
Who we're looking for
You have demonstrated your leadership capabilities and are highly regarded within your current organisation. You have well developed category management skills and are able to demonstrate flexibility and change management prowess. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence cross functionally. Above all this you can evidence significant savings delivery and first class supplier management skills.
