The role as Chief Financial Officer of the Sydvaranger Iron Project is a newly created role.
This role, which reports both to the local Managing Director and Northern Iron's Chief Financial Officer in Perth, has primary responsibility for the financial management of Sydvaranger Gruve AS and is crucial to the success of the project.
The main operational responsibilities will include:
• Maintenance of the financial records of SGAS, including creditors, payroll, treasury and general ledger
• Reporting to Northern Iron within the monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reporting timetable as set
• Full and half year statutory accounts preparation for SGAS (in accordance with IFRS), and management of the audit process
• Implementation of systems processes and software that are appropriate for SGAS as it moves through the development to the operational stage
• Quarterly cashflow reporting in the format required for Northern Iron Quarterly Reports
• Budget preparation, monitoring and reporting of variances to budget, and forecasting to period end
• Monthly financial reports (cash, profit and loss and balance sheet) in a standard and format that can be inserted into the parent entity monthly board packs
• Management of all Norwegian taxation matters (income tax, payroll taxes, VAT, interest withholding, stamp duty, and / or any other taxes applicable in Norway)
• Application of Corporate Governance principles and recommendations as set by the parent entity
• Management of the insurance program
• Membership of the Audit Committee
• Company secretarial matters including maintenance of the statutory records of SGAS, application of Norwegian law, shareholder notices of meeting, compilation of Board papers and maintenance of Board minutes
• Other adhoc reporting or project work as required by the SGAS General Manager, or Northern Iron's Chief Executive Officer / Company Secretary
• Liason with contract counterparties
Who we're looking for
• Chartered Accountant with ideally 4 to 5 years professional experience and a practical understanding of International Accounting Standards
• Comprehension of Norwegian and English
• Mining/Natural Resources experience would be a major advantage
• A management background with an excellent level of organisation & competence
• Strong budgetary control skills essential
• Excellent organisational, written and IT skills
• Excellent communication skills across all levels
• Self motivated

Northern Iron is an Australian publicly listed company headquartered in Perth, Australia, which was formed to acquire the Sydvaranger Iron Project in northern Norway through its 100% owned Norwegian subsidiary, Sydvaranger Gruve AS.
Northern Iron, which raised A$140 million on listing in December 2007, is currently redeveloping the historic Sydvaranger Iron Project with production of magnetite iron concentrate expected to commence by mid 2009.
