Compliance Executive

The purpose of this role is to support the International affluent, intermediary & corporate, and wealth advisory business areas, which provide a wide range of banking, investment and fiduciary products and services to their international clients.

Core responsibilities:

Acts as a technical generalist and provides training and education to the local business. Contributes to
improving the compliance culture through self directed learning and knowledge transfer within the IOM compliance team.

Contributes to the local process required to identify ,analyse, and investigate regulatory risks. Produces written reports, and holds discussions with and presentations to management. Supports the agreement for agreeing actions to resolve any failures by business units to comply with regulations and Compliance policies. Carries out Issue assurance reviews and assess the effectiveness of solutions implemented by business units to resolve issues raised in previous compliance monitoring and control reviews.

Provides advice and guidance on relevant laws, regulations and official guidance published by the local authorities that is relevant to the products and services offered by each business. Contributes to delivering effective solutions that will enable the business to achieve their growth objectives within the regulatory framework.

Works with the business to implement existing Compliance policies and supports the Head of IOM Compliance team within the jurisdiction when the businesses seek advice and guidance on the interpretation of those polices. Maintains the registers and MI as required by policies. Analyses the impact on business of proposed new or amendments to existing policies.

The Compliance Executive will play a support role by providing advice and guidance on the regulatory risks associated with those activities. The role holder will work closely with the Head of IOM Compliance team to ensure the delivery of world class compliance support for the full range of regulated activities carried out by local businesses in the Isle of Man. The role holder works closely with team members in Jersey, Guernsey, and other international centres to co-ordinate support and deliver a consistent service.

Who we're looking for
Applicants should possess the following:

Managerial experience
Direct experience of managing generalist compliance staff is preferred but is not an essential requirement.

Academic and professional qualifications
A high quality degree level education and a first class general academic track record. Ideally, full membership of a professional institution.

Language skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a critical requirement of the position. Second languages are not an essential requirement of this position

Action orientated, with a focus on continuous improvement in all areas of work. Known for high energy and productivity, able to deliver quality results with a challenging, positive, influential style. Creativity and pragmatism with an ability to
conceptualise and deliver at speed. An informed commercial approach should be a priority with a focus on HR best practice. A relationship builder with a reputation for integrity, evoking rapid trust and openness in clients, colleagues and team members alike.
