Legal Counsel

Due to the recent acquisition by AkzoNobel of the ICI group, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal adviser to join the legal team supporting the Decorative Paints businesses in the UK and Europe. As an important member of the legal function and a partner to the business, you will be working on a very diverse range of legal matters including:
- Drafting and negotiating general commercial agreements including sales and purchasing contracts, distribution and licensing agreements;
- Advising on projects such as acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures;
- Working in foreign legal jurisdictions and managing external legal counsel;
- Advising on all general commercial matters such as marketing law, product liability, data protection etc (but a specialism in these areas is not required)
You will be joining a friendly team in a dynamic, and ever changing organisation, with strong opportunity for development for the right person.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be an experienced lawyer with the following skills:
- Qualified lawyer in the UK or major European jurisdiction;
- Excellent commercial legal knowledge, and some experience of competition law applied in a commercial setting;
- Strong drafting skills;
- Ability to identify risk, advise on consequences and minimise exposure;
- Enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to manage a truly diverse work-load autonomously;
- Ability to identify key issues and drive for their resolution in a solution orientated way;
- Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise conflicting deadlines whilst maintaining a positive approach;
- A strong communicator with confidence in your ability;
- Flexibility to travel, particularly in Europe.
