Private Practice
North-West

Updated June 10, 2008
The NQ market gets earlier each year and this year will be no exception. Firms across the UK are already looking for 2008 qualifiers for their February and March recruitment processes, particularly within the Commercial Litigation, Employment, Private Client, Corporate, Pensions and Insurance specialism's.
Who we're looking for
If you are qualifying in 2008 and are keen to be one step ahead of the competition it is recommended that you look early. When it comes to your career, start as you mean to go on by enlisting the services of a leading Legal recruitment consultancy. With over 21 years experience of successfully placing Legal professionals from paralegals up to senior and partner level, Michael Page Legal can help take the stress out of finding your next Legal role, whatever area of law you choose.
About our client
The Liverpool office of Michael Page covers the geographical areas of Greater Merseyside, Chester and North Wales. The excellent firms in the area, coupled with the fact that Liverpool will be the European Capital of Culture in 2008 provides exceptional opportunities for NQ's looking to build a career.
The Liverpool market was traditionally divided in two - a tier of leading commercial firms including Brabners, DLA, DWF and Halliwells, and a tier of leading insurance practices namely Weightmans, Berrymans and Hill Dickinson. This distinction is now blurring as the insurance firms build and develop their commercial service offerings.
The immediate effect of the investment pumped into the area to build the infrastructure for 2008 has dramatically increased the demand for NQ talent in the disciplines of Commercial Property, Construction and Projects, Planning, Banking and Employment law. The prediction is that a lot of Corporate work will also flow off the back of this growth.
What's on offer
The salary gap between Liverpool and Manchester has narrowed substantially at the NQ level and the city's renaissance means that firms are increasingly attracting lawyers from London, drawn to the city by both the quality of work on offer and the quality of life the area can guarantee.
Furthermore NQ's returning to the area (be it through family ties or previous study at the Chester College of Law) are much sought after and the opportunities for NQs to enter a good firm with exceptional caseloads and career progression have never been better and is perhaps more of a reality than in other major UK cities.
