This is a rare and exciting opportunity to make a difference in a new business venture for an established Australian fashion accessories brand.
The position reports to the UK Country Manager with a financial reporting line to the Group GM - Finance in Australia. The role supports all financial, inventory, IT and administrative activities for Mimco in the UK.
The Financial Controller is the key support to the business and is responsible for ensuring that the day to day operations of the business are fully supported in these areas. The role is also responsible for all financial processing and the completion of month end accounts & reports. This is initially a very hands-on role with the opportunity to delegate a lot of the detail as the business grows.

• Financial reporting
• Planning and analysis
• Retail store support
• Financial support
• Inventory
• Statutory requirements
• IT
• Management of staff, principally the finance and admin accountant
Who we're looking for
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
• Extensive experience in a commercial environment
• Experience in a UK commercial or accounting environment
• Experience in a Retail business
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
• Strong technical accounting skills and strong degree of accuracy & organisation
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to focus on continuous process improvement
• Good time management and organisation skills
• Ability to lead, direct and educate finance team members
• Good ability to communicate with all levels of staff including non-financial staff
• Proactive approach to problem identification & resolution
• Team player, willing to support & enhance the activities of other members of the organisation
• A self starter
About our client
Mimco was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1996, as a privately owned company and rose quickly to become Australia's leading fashion accessories brand because of strong product design and exclusivity, combined with an excellent in-store experience for the Mimco customer. It has a unique positioning between Luxury Designer and High-Street brands. August 2007 saw Mimco acquired by Gresham Private Equity which also owns the successful Witchery fashion brand located across Australia and New Zealand in more than 100 stores. Both businesses have their Head Offices in Melbourne.
Today, Mimco has 24 retail boutiques across Australia (and will have at least 30 by end December 2008) and enjoys an exclusive wholesale relationship with the country's most prestigious department store, David Jones, which has 34 stores.
Mimco is about to enter into a very exciting phase, expanding its retail concept into high profile locations across the UK and Republic of Ireland, the first opening around September 2008, by launching boutique environments that will invite customers in to experience and explore. Sites will be selected to ensure that each store will exude its own character and warmth.
Plans are in place to open a combination of intimate, stand-alone Mimco boutiques, as well as concession spaces within a leading department store located across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
