Manchester Central is Manchester's meeting place - a world-class convention complex located in the heart of one of the UK's most dynamic and exciting cities.
With its range of flexible facilities, Manchester Central has developed an enviable reputation for hosting high profile national and international exhibitions, conferences, corporate meetings and cultural events, with the Labour and Conservative Party national conferences in 2008 and 2009 just two of the big occasions on the horizon.
The venue's ambition matches that of the city - to be one of the premier international locations for the meetings industry. To achieve that ambition, we now need a strategic marketer, one who has the ability to manage and develop our brand within the sector, whilst at the same time understanding and advancing our role as one of the leading elements of 'brand Manchester'.
Main Areas of Responsibility
• Devise and implement a marketing & communications strategy for Manchester Central
• Develop and oversee an annual marketing plan for the venue
• Form and manage the marketing budget effectively and deliver marketing activity within the agreed budget
• Devise and implement a research strategy for the venue across all key market sectors
• Develop the Manchester Central website
• Manage all third party relationships
• Build and develop a first class database that enables Manchester Central to promote effectively to new and existing customers
• Develop strategic partner relationships with the media and key City stakeholders

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate for the role of marketing manager will have the following skills:
• Proven experience as an effective marketing executive/manager
• A professional marketing qualification and or relevant degree
• Extensive experience of developing, maintaining and delivering on marketing strategies to meet company objectives
• Experience within a related venue or destination industry is preferable
• A strong understanding of customer and market dynamics
• A proven ability to oversee all marketing, advertising, promotional staff and activity
• Strong and proven copywriting skills
• A creative team player that is positive, enthusiastic and a winner
