This new commercially focused Business Analyst role has arisen following a restructure of the business. This is a key role to further the provision of professional, service led, financial advice and guidance to support Spire Little Aston Hospital, Birmingham (formerly BUPA Hospitals) achieve their ambition of being the leading private hospital in the region. Reporting to the Operations and Finance Manager, you will work closely with the Hospital Director and Heads of Department and will have a critical role in shaping and delivering short and long term business objectives for the hospital.
Role Outline:
• Working closely with the Operations and Finance Manager to provide clear professional financial analysis, review and governance at the hospital
• Providing advice and clear analytical information to the hospital's management team as required
• Financial reporting in line with Spire Healthcare's reporting framework
• Contributing to a customer focused culture throughout the hospital
• Ensuring that an effective system of internal control is applied throughout the hospital
• Driving the delivery of the annual operating plans and business objectives defined within the hospital annual operating plan to ensure best practice and maximum utilisation of resources.
Responsibilities include;
• Assist with the production of the monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual operating plans, together with supporting commentaries and variance analysis
• In conjunction with the hospital management team prioritise capital expenditure and prepare financial justifications to support business cases where required.
• Undertake high level financial analysis where required, and provide financial and commercial advice to the hospital management team
• Work with the hospital management team to ensure that locally controlled pricing is robust and profitable ensuring a balance between competitiveness and revenue maximisation. Ensure that costing analysis yields meaningful and practical information about the hospitals cost base and identify opportunities to drive improvements in resource utilisation.

Who we're looking for
For this Finance Analyst role in Birmingham
• Ideally you will be a qualified accountant, or studying towards (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Experience in healthcare or other customer oriented business is desirable, and must have worked for another large organisation previously.
• Must be commercially astute
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• Inspire confidence, influence others, offer challenge constructively and build strong working relationships
• Able to understand key business processes and complex business issues
• IT literate and able to adopt and contribute to the introduction and development of new systems. Must have advanced Excel skills including macros and knowledge of Hyperion would be considered advantageous.
• Good communication skills
• Role model high standards of personal integrity, display initiative and identify opportunities for personal development
