Senior Policy Adviser

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a senior policy adviser. As the suitable candidate you will be:
• working closely with a range of colleagues (including supervisors carrying out the thematic work; policy colleagues, economists and lawyers) to identify issues and develop appropriate policy solutions;
• liaising closely with the industry and relevant trade associations to explore how far there may be scope for an industry solution;
• overseeing the work of the consultants appointed to take forward the proposed consumer research;
• analysing the DP responses, the consumer research results and the outcome of the thematic work and, in the light of these, playing a leading role in developing policy proposals for senior management on how to proceed;
• undertaking cost-benefit analysis of policy options and involvement (if appropriate) in rules-drafting process;
• drafting, to a high standard, both internal policy papers, briefing and speeches for senior management, and documents for external publication (e.g. consultation papers and policy statements);

Who we're looking for
Our client is looking for a a candidate with:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think pragmatically and innovatively about policy problems / options and produce high quality output to tight deadlines;
• A good understanding /experience of the general insurance market;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present confidently and concisely to internal and external stakeholders;
• Good negotiating and influencing skills;
• Ability to work in a collaborative way as part of a team and to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Flexibility and initiative, with good organisational skills, including the ability to manage work flows so that priorities are achieved; and
• The ability to apply economic principles to policy issues, including developing cost-benefit analysis of different possible policy options
