Power, Gas and Emissions Paralegal

Our client is looking to recruit a Paralegal for their Gas, Power, Emissions and LNG Trading team located in Canary Wharf. The individual will be responsible for providing professional legal support to the lawyers and to the London-based businesses.
Specific responsibilities will include preparation, review and negotiation of transactional documents based on standard forms (notably ISDA, GTMA, IETA, EFET and Master Trading Agreements, guarantees and other credit support); establishing and maintaining contracts and know-how databases; undertaking legal research; and liaising generally with Trading Back-Office and Finance/Credit teams, as well as external contacts/counterparties.

Who we're looking for
Candidates should be Paralegals.
Previous experience in an Energy and/or Financial/Commodities Trading environment is desirable, though not essential.
Familiarity with ISDA documentation is of particular interest.
Excellent written and drafting skills and ability to understand and apply detailed and complex contract/regulatory provisions are essential. The individual will be required to demonstrate a high degree of commercial awareness; communicate effectively; possess strong interpersonal skills and operate effectively in a varied team environment.
Good negotiation skills and a confident approach to dealing with others are important.

Our client's Legal Department comprises over 400 lawyers worldwide and provides legal support to all of the company's group businesses. In a number of locations, notably in the US, these lawyers are supported by in-house paralegal assistants.
