A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an economist. As the suitable candidate you will:
• Under the direction of the Assistant Director of the Economics team, carry out economic analysis of areas of interest to enhance the organisation's and member companies' understanding and enable the organisation to be effective in its representation to government and others.
• Work effectively with the policy teams to ensure that they have the best research to back-up the organisation's policy initiatives.
• Ensure that results are effectively disseminated to relevant bodies by preparing reports, contributing to the organisation and outside publications and by giving presentations.
• Monitor developments originating from Government and others to ensure the Association and its members are kept up-to-date on current issues and that research work is timely and well informed.
• Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Association.
Who we're looking for
Our client requires a candidate with:
• Good post-graduate degree in economics or related discipline
• Ideally a minimum two years' economics, finance or policy experience, but strong candidates with less experience will also be considered.
• A high level of numeracy and sound knowledge of statistics, together with experience of analysing data.
• Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience.
• Some familiarity with economic and financial data published by the government would be an advantage. An interest in and understanding of current affairs and economic and social policy issues is important.
• Extensive experience of using computers and information technologies.
