Senior Management Accountant

To provide the Deputy Director of Finance with meaningful, accurate and timely management information; oversee the production of the monthly management accounts and support the academic areas in respect of financial matters.

Principal Duties Include:

• Review month end reconciliations and control accounts prepared by the management accountant, sales and purchase ledger managers.

• Review all fee income and ensure that it is correctly analysed between the appropriate ledger codes and that it relates to the correct period.

• Prepare, with the assistance of the management accountant, and review the monthly management accounts.

• Prepare capital project statements and monitor against budget.

• Investigate variances identified in the management accounts.

• Analyse and report on income and expenditure at course level.

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns

• Liaise with, make enquiries of and assist with financial queries raised by academic department budget managers.

• Present financial information to academic budget managers.

• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and upload to the ledger.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly student information reports.

Who we're looking for
CCAB qualified or part qualified.

Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office including: developing and analysing Excel spreadsheets and databases.

Experience of completing and reviewing month end routines.

Experience of producing and reviewing monthly management accounts.

Experience of achieving performance targets and delivering to strict deadlines.

Experience of year accounts preparation.

Excellent analytical skills and methodical approach with ability to pay close attention to detail.

The ability to act proactively and with limited direct supervision, while at the same time recognising when matters need to be referred to more senior managers.

A thorough understanding of accounting procedures, office systems and general process and the ability to translate that understanding to ensure the effective working of the particular processes and systems of the College.

The written and oral communication skills necessary to initiate and respond to correspondence, to make notes and minutes of meetings and to deal with other forms of communication.

The interpersonal skills necessary to sustain effective relationships on behalf of the College and external bodies and with its suppliers.

The ability to work accurately with detailed information and to ensure that practical tasks are effectively implemented.

What's on offer
Salary circa £25k with final salary pension. Study Support if necessary and 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
