Channel Marketing Manager

To develop and execute the marketing plan for the Foodservice and Cash & Carry channels in support of the companies strategic plans.

Reporting directly to the Marketing Controller and liaising closely with Trade Sector Controller and Category managers this is a broad marketing role with significant autonomy, responsibility and opportunity.

1. Product Management
• Manage sector specific product groups and sector specific own label products
• Define the optimum product range for the sector - advising the category manager (where required) of sector specific brand gaps or adjustment/enhancements to existing products that will facilitate profitable sales growth.
• Capture competitor information relating to product performance, price, features & benefits etc and use it to set out product strategies - pricing, performance, point of difference etc.

2. Budget responsibility:

• Marketing A&P funds allocated to the foodservice and cash & carry channel
• Manage trade marketing budget for the foodservice & cash &carry channel - assume profit responsibility at a contribution level per customer in conjunction with the commercial team

3. Customers
• Develop an expert understanding of Customer strategies, marketing initiatives and strategic goals, promotional concepts, promotional mechanics, costs of activity, predicted ROI of promotional activity.
• Measure activities and report ROI on investments
• Develop strategic influencing with customer marketing contacts and / or buyers in co-ordination with the FS and Cash & Carry sales team
• Develop marketing plans for key focus customers (defined annually)

4. Market intelligence
• Regular liaison with Category Manager to understand and utilise consumer insight
• Responsibility for Sector Specific market information

5. General
• PR activities and key messages for the sector
• Provision of sales materials,training aids, other literature,Pos and maintenance/development of FS & Cash & Carry communications via the internet site
• New product development in sector specific categories
• Management of customer specific / own label product development
• Brand holder interface where relevant

Who we're looking for
An experienced, confident and tenacious channel/trade marketer looking for an opportunity to make difference - without the constraints that are so often present within Global companies. With good experience of product responsibility, regardless of sector, and the gravitas and communication ability to get buy-in at all levels this marketer will drive the channel with full ownership and authority.

You will need to demonstrate your ability to work closely with the UK retailers and foodservice customers.
