This is a newly created role for a Financial Controller based in Birmingham, which will include providing commercial accounting support to one of their largest contracts, and with a major blue chip client. With a dotted line to the MD and working with operations, you will be responsible for identifying profit improvement opportunities and strategies, in close liaison with the local management team. Responsibilities will include production of period accounts, managing the reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators ensuring appropriate action is taken. Additional tasks will include assessing forecasts, budgets and monthly reporting with a view to identifying improvement priorities.

Who we're looking for

• For this Financial Controller position based in Birmingham, the successful candidate ideally will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Present a strong commercial acumen
• Must also demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills and be pragmatic in their approach in order to challenge and influence the operations of the business.
• This is a position that will require the ability to work autonomously and interact professionally with both finance and operations.
• Previous experience of a customer-facing role and direct involvement with operations would be beneficial. With reference to this, first class communication skills and the ability to work at all levels is imperative.
