VAT Manager

The purpose of the role is to develop further VAT business amongst existing and potential clients, to provide a specialist and comprehensive VAT advisory service and to identify tax planning opportunities.

• Undertake sales and marketing activities to promote VAT products and services, to potential and existing clients including attending seminars and other networking events where relevant
• Provide advice and support on VAT planning issues to clients, regularly maintaining contact and making visits as appropriate
• Develop relationships with local intermediaries with a view to obtaining referral work
• Help develop more junior staff by appropriate delegation and coaching
• Continually research new products and service and ensure knowledge is kept up to date with VAT legislation and procedures
• Financial management including billing within given timescales and according to the firm's procedures
• Responsible for preparing and agreeing budgets with partners and clients and ensuring these are met and within agreed timescales

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be organised, driven, motivated, have judgement, credibility and resilience. More specifically:
• A-Level educated, preferably degree
• Is proactive rather than reactive in approach
• Have good working knowledge of tax regulations and procedures. Specialist knowledge including partial exemption methods and international VAT matters, including registration
• Gathers information and analyses situations in an accurate and organized fashion.
• Utilises personal network to generate and convert leads

About our client
My client is a top 10 public practice with a four person VAT department mainly providing VAT consultancy services to both corporate and unincorporated business. There is a large international and property element to the department's work.
