• Plan, organise, control and deliver multiple business level projects within the Programme portfolio through project teams OR manage large projects on own. Likely to be working direct for project sponsor or for Programme Manager with limited supervision
• Ensuring the project deliverables are capable of achieving the benefits defined in the business case
• Collaborate with project sponsors / stakeholders to ensure the business requirement is clearly defined and documented
• Define the scope of the project, own and manage project goals, risks, issues and resources
• Extensive liaison and direct contact with a diverse range of businesses and functions
• May be required to provide input to business strategy and prioritisation of Programme Portfolio. Manage research to determine and quantify options solutions to meet strategic fit
• Responsible for either a portfolio of complex / critical projects or planning and managing a large project through the entire life cycle, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality. Includes responsibility for ensuring that the solution is capable of enabling the business to achieve benefit realisation.
• Regarded internally as a project management expert, providing specialist knowledge and support to project teams to shape business development and resolve business issues. Will ensure that own knowledge is up to date and is reflective of best practice
• Escalation point for project level risks within the portfolio, taking corrective action to achieve resolution to the satisfaction of Programme Manager and/or business sponsor
• To provide leadership and strategic direction to the project team
• May require negotiation with suppliers (both internal and external) to secure a timely and cost effective outcome for the project
Who we're looking for
• Significant Change Management experience and recognised as a project management practitioner
• Comprehensive functional knowledge of Business Operations and processes and related Technology
• Project Lifecycle planning and delivery of projects of > 6 months duration
• Commercial acumen including third party management with a track record of benefits delivery and cost centre management
• Proven track record of end-to-end delivery
• Previous experience of managing multi disciplinary teams
• Communicating verbally and in writing to inform and persuade up to Director level
• Requirement to travel will feature
• A recognised formal qualification or equivalent job related experience in Project Management to certified level is desirable
• Expert in use of established project management methodology ensuring formal tracking of projects and a clear audit trail
• Ability to work in partnership with the Programme Manager to manage effectively the links with operational management, project staff and other programmes
• Maximise resources through prioritising activities and balancing conflicting demands
