Reporting into the Supply Chain Manager, you will be supporting and leading operational procurement for either work winning, or or single projects. You will be required to assume the position as "lead buyer" and apply category management strategies whilst delivering cost reductions and rebates. The Senior Buyer will also lead subcontractor and major supply pre-let meetings, manage the framework agreements and close out strategic tender and contract negotiations. The key focus will be to monitor vendor performance and increase performance levels.
Who we're looking for
The Senior Buyer will have a combination of the below -
Education levels:
• Ideally CIPS qualified
• Degree level or relevant technical knowledge/skills:
• Relevant product and subcontract market knowledge desirable
• Tender and contract procurement practice, processes
• Knowledge of relevant forms of contract and strong commercial awareness
• Supply chain principles, procedures and methods
• Category Management tools and techniques
Description of required values/competencies:
• To be able to operate as part of an operational delivery team. Can also lead a small team
• Strong negotiation skills, strong contractual and commercial competence
• Demonstrates sound skills in project procurement planning
• Analytical skills, measured approach to decision making, highly competent in supplier selection and evaluation
Characteristics of the person:
•A team player, good communicator, highly customer focused, mentally robust
• He/she is a confident negotiator who is able to use a range of variables in contractual negotiations
• A Senior Buyer is committed to Supply Chain and marketing of the function internally and externally. Least end
cost is their focus
• The ability to operate under pressure and to meet tight and demanding deadlines is essential
