Legal Counsel

Temp ⁄ Up to £425.00 per day on a locum basis.

Starting immediately you will join our client to work on a specific long term contract dealing with a complex litigation matter that the client has become involved in. You will be the sole legal counsel working for the client and you will be required to deal with the following matters that relate to the current litigation;
• Liaising with the clients external lawyers; Herbert Smith;
• The collection and identification of documents in relation to the disclosure process;
• General case management and research.

In addition to your involvement with the case management of this particular piece of litigation you will also be required to advise on;
• General Company Law;
• Money laundering;
• Matters relating to the clients overseas agents, particularly in relation to ethical issues;
• Issues arising from the clients export committee.
You will be based just outside Reading at offices that are both easily accessible and set in beautiful surroundings. Initially the role will concentrate on the litigation that our client is currently involved in, however after the initial work has been done you will be required to advise on the general day to day matters listed above.
It is anticipated the role will last between 6 - 12 months.

Who we're looking for
Our client is looking for a qualified lawyer to fill this legal counsel role. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an In house legal team; they will also consider a solicitor currently working in private practice.
In particular you must be able to demonstrate;
• The ability to work without supervision;
• A current working knowledge of commercial litigation and in particular the disclosure process involved in high value litigation;
•A working knowledge of company and commercial matters;
• The ability to take on, understand and advise on specific information relating to the sector the client works within.
• The ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, and confidence in dealing with and advising at different levels of the company.
•That you are available at short notice, and are within a commutable distance of Reading.
