Financial Controller required for a service based business in Bradford, Yorkshire. Full responsibility for overseeing all Financial Accounting functions and compliance with corporate policies, regulatory and government filings including:
• Responsible for all financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and UK GAAP
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory and governmental filings such as VAT/tax returns and corporate filings under US GAAP accurately and in a timely manner.
• Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of financial and accounting records
• Actively manage the balance sheet and ensure corporate policies on provisions and accruals are complied with.
• Responsible for the SOX-404 key controls documentation, testing, and, when necessary, remediation
• Responsible for the completion of month end financial performance commentary
•Ensuring appropriate financial controls and procedures are put in place and adhered to.
• Advising on the impact of revenue recognition policies
• Ensuring expense capitalization policies are correctly applied and that the carrying value of assets on the balance sheet is adequate by performing periodic assessments in accordance with Corporate policy
• Ensure judgmental accruals are adequately stated in the financial statements by applying sound and consistent methodologies
• Advising the bid council and the analysts on the accounting treatment for new contracts
• Reviewing, evaluating and enhancing the financial controls surrounding the billing and revenue recognition process
• Brief UK sales team on major financial issues affecting the revenue
• Complex accounting issue resolution in a high pressured environment
• Responsible for team members performance and development
• Lead and keep abreast of accounting and tax developments in the UK and Ireland
• Managing external relationships with auditors banks and other stakeholders
Who we're looking for
Financial Controller required for a Service business based in Bradford, Yorkshire looking for a degree educated ACA qualified accountant with at least 4-5 years post qualification experience in a high-pressured financially controlled environment.
• At least 4 years experience with a Big 4 accounting firm
• Proven people management experience (managed teams of more than 5 people)
• Good understanding of financial management and maintaining effective internal controls
• Proven ability to meet set targets and deliver business objectives
• Detailed knowledge of accounting packages and financial processes.
• Demonstrable experience of continuous improvements in financial processes and driving through innovation
• Experience in driving through innovative initiatives
•Expert in US and IFRS and understanding of IAS
• Working knowledge in revenue recognition and development spend capitalisation
• Sarbanes Oxley requirements
• An understanding of a service based business environment
• Ability to combine technical knowledge with commercial acumen
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good change management skills
• Strong all round accounting skills
• Ability to work within a flexible but deadline driven environment
• Influencing and negotia
