Permanent

Updated August 19, 2008

As Director of External Relations you will be responsible to the Headmaster for the formulation and implementation of an integrated marketing plan for the Bedales Schools covering all aspects of the Schools' external relations: marketing, admissions, fund-raising and alumni relations.

You will have hands-on responsibility for the three schools' (Bedales, Dunhurst and Dunannie) marketing communications, and adopt more of a leadership and coaching role in other aspects of the external relations function, such as Development and Admissions, which are already staffed.

Working closely with the Headmaster, Bursar, Board of Governors and other colleagues and members of the Bedales community, you will be responsible for ensuring that the values of the Bedales brand are communicated effectively to target market segments and in such a way that the brand remains consistent, coherent and competitive and that its recruitment and revenue generation targets are met.

This role presents an exciting challenge for a solid all round marketing professional to join one of the most prestigious schools in the UK and to make their mark in assisting with taking the school forward and building on their already strong reputation.

About our client
Bedales School has a long and distinguished history, pioneering liberal education; many practices initiated at Bedales have become part of the educational mainstream. With its recent introduction of Bedales Assessed Courses (replacing some GCSEs, which have been widely criticised for having limited educational value), Bedales continues this tradition today. The school is midway through a major spending programme with the aim of creating a best in class set of buildings and facilities. Student numbers have consistently met or exceeded targets in recent years and the school is in a very strong financial position

What's on offer
Salary of £60,000 plus benefits.
