I am looking to recruit professional procurement candidates to work within the Public Sector as part of a Strategic Procurement Team.
Purpose of the Role:
* Provide support to a client group of Departments on all procurement matters
* Manage a portfolio of commodities ensuring good value for money
* Operationally manage the insurance portfolio
* Authorise purchase orders and contracts in accordance with Financial Regulations
* Support the development of efficient and effective procurement and insurance processes and procedures
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide advice and support on procurement matters to a client group of Faculties and Departments liaising at all levels.
* Advise other Finance teams on sources of supply to support use of contracted and preferred suppliers
* Contribute to the development and delivery of seminars on procurement and insurance policies, practices and issues
* Support the client group taking the lead on procurement projects
* Manage a portfolio of commodities ensuring appropriate stakeholder consultation, timely and effective tendering of purchases and contracts, and good contract management.
* Maintain tendering and contracting processes and procedures under review to ensure good practice and provision of a professional procurement service to stakeholders
* Maintain insurance covers, processes and procedures under review to ensure efficient and effective operation of the insurance portfolio
* Support the development and implementation of e-procurement capabilities
* Develop a robust framework to address the procurement related aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility.
* Pro-actively engage with client group to ensure provision of appropriate support and consistent application of good procurement practice across the group
Who we're looking for
* CIPS qualified/part-qualified or qualified by experience<BR>* Evidence of career progression
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Experience of working in a professional procurement role involving tendering, negotiation and contract management for a diverse range of goods and services
* Experience of building successful working relationships with stakeholders
* Good understanding of commercial contracting law
* Ideally experience of working within local Public Sector
