VAT Manager

Travel

You will be responsible for the following:
• Review and improve VAT and VAT SOX compliance processes in the business units;
• Assist with the roll out of SAP into the companies in Europe including testing and VAT engine logic;
• Manage and report on material VAT refund balances;
• Manage or assist with tax audits in the UK and Europe;
• Be the first point of contact with key finance and business contacts for VAT issues;
• Work alone or together with other tax colleagues on VAT input on projects ranging from designing VAT solutions to ensuring effective implementation and delivery;
• Manage certain business reviews and process mapping of the business, identifying weaknesses, risks or opportunities;
• Manage risk effectively;
• Understand the businesses, the legal entity org charts, the business transaction flows including intra group and thus be able to identify missing links, compliance holes and the VAT or tax issues for each business together with expected legal agreements, invoicing, VAT treatment, VAT output or input yields and planning opportunities.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate is likely to be:
• Ideally 3+ years VAT experience in the Big 4 or Top 10;
• Strong technical knowledge of VAT, particularly international services;
• Can multi task and prioritise effectively;
• Can build relationships and trust within the company with tax, accounting, legal and business colleagues;
• Able to their manage work load independently while being part of a larger team.
• Able to deal with ambiguity, imprecise or incomplete data in delivering practical advice;
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate tax issues to non tax people;
• Recognise the implications to internal P&L's and budgets of VAT write offs, external advisory costs and accruals etc, understand risk management and how/when to communicate upwards;
• Manages and embraces change.
