Our clients are looking for two high calibre individuals to take part in internal audit engagements for their Group Audit teams based in Cardiff focusing (but not solely) on Asset Finance/Business Banking activities across the group. The role will require UK travel. Key responsibilities include:
• Evidence of strong analytical skills, I.e. identifies weaknesses in controls and makes constructive recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control system in the audited areas. Promotes the acceptance of Group Audit as a competent partner.
• Plan, organise and deliver work on audit engagements to ensure they are carried out effectively within the deadlines allocated, and undertaken in accordance with relevant Group Audit standards.
• Identify and document issues for business management in a clear, fair and objective way, prepare recommendations for improvements to manage and control risk, and reconcile these with the audited entity.
• Establishes constructive relationships with the audited entity and senior management both during the engagement and on an ongoing basis.
• Where appropriate, lead, motivate, develop and appraise team members to promote individual and collective performance to required Group Audit standards.
• Pro-actively and efficiently communicate within the team and Group Audit management, feed identified issues and risks into the targeting process.
• Ensure independence of Group Audit and confidentiality of information received
Who we're looking for
• Graduate
• Qualified Accountant (or equivalent)
• Audit experience - internal or external
• Flexible, adaptable approach
• Excellent, confident assertive communicator
• Client orientation as well as team orientation
• Continuous learning ethic
• Proven ability to manage project type activity (projects, audits)
• Proven leadership skills, potential for leadership in future is essential
