VAT Manager

In-House Fiduciary Services

Isle of Man

Permanent ⁄ £40000 - £50000

Updated August 11, 2008

Due to recent growth in the business and work, our client is looking to hire candidates for a new position within the company. Working as an in-house VAT Manager, this is largely a stand-alone role for a candidate looking either to make their first step from practice to an in-house position, or those candidates looking to broaden their VAT expertise in the Offshore financial sector. Working with the Client Directors and their respective teams, you will be the in-house VAT expert, providing specialist VAT advice on a wide variety of client structures, focusing mainly on property, yacht and aircraft holding entities
Key responsibilities will include providing advice on VAT matters to directors and teams on an ongoing basis, while reporting directly to the Associate Tax Director. You will also be expected to liaise with third-party advisors on the VAT implications of client structures, whilst working with Directors to develop and implement new planning ideas for clients. You will also have responsibility for signing off client and in-house VAT returns. As this is a new role, and one with excellent growth potential, successful candidates will be expected to conduct marketing and business development activities, attending meetings with potential clients and financial advisors on a local and international scale.

Who we're looking for
• Candidate should ideally hold a professional accounting qualification, or be suitably qualified by experience.
• You should have a strong degree of specialised VAT knowledge, gained in either a practice, HMRC, or similar in-house environment.
• You should have strong communication skills to be able to relate complex VAT information to clients and teams in-house, with strong client facing/business development skills.
• Experience of yacht, aircraft or property holding structures is highly desirable.
• As Isle of Man VAT regulations equate to those for the UK, candidates must have extensive knowledge of UK/EU VAT regulations.

About our client
Our client is a leading Offshore fiduciary and administrative service provider, employing over 100 multi-disciplinary staff and servicing a diverse client base, ranging from high net worth individuals to listed companies. In addition to traditional trust and corporate services, our client has recently expanded its yachts and aircraft services, resulting in greater VAT complexity. Traditionally, VAT expertise has been bought in from a Big 4 accounting firm, however the directors now feel that the business is sufficiently large and complex that an in-house VAT specialist is needed.

What's on offer
A competitive package, with the lowest personal tax rates in Europe; high quality of work with a leading Offshore firm experiencing record growth; fantastic quality of life with low commutes, rural setting and close links to both the mainland UK and Ireland.
