This a varied role involving advisory and project work. The role reports to the Head of Tax and involves the following:
• assisting in the management of the tax charge for the group;
• budgeting and forecasting the tax charge and tax cashflows for the group;
• assisting in the year end tax reporting for consolidated accounts;
• preparation of corporate tax computations, returns, and payment on account calculations, and accompanying CTSA documentation (albeit there are only a very small number of UK companies);
• managing the UK tax position, including maximising tax deductions for expenditure, and avoiding "locked-in" losses;
• managing the group's complex CFC position;
• advising and assisting with the establishment of new overseas operations and involvement with substantial ongoing international tax issues in respect of existing operations, including transfer pricing, minimising tax inefficiencies, taxation of revenue, permanent establishment issues, treasury related matters, minimisation of irrecoverable VAT. This includes significant liaison with external advisors in the overseas jurisdictions;
• ensuring the group's treasury strategy is effected in a tax efficient manner;
• developing a transfer pricing strategy that reflects the ongoing changes and developments within the business environment, and obtaining certainty where possible by securing unilateral/bilateral APAs and entering into advance discussions with revenue authorities;
• implementing and defending cross border tax structured transactions;
• direction and on-going management of tax audits overseas.
Who we're looking for
You will be ACA and/or ATII/CTA qualified with post qualification corporate tax experience gained in a large practice or ideally in-house with a multi-national organisation.
The role would suit someone whose qualities include:
• excellent tax technical skills;
• keen and enthusiastic, with good inter-personal skills, and the ability to develop effective working relationships with business heads within the group and with external advisers;
• an ability to identify tax risk, solve problems, and demonstrate good decision making;
• good commercial awareness and business acumen;
• ability to lead and motivate a team of relatively senior individuals;
• proven practical experience of international tax.
