The Building Surveyor based in the Northampton or Birmingham will play an important role in achieving the leisure organisation's key objectives: doubling the number of visitors by 2012 and delivering excellent standards. This will involve cross functional working and communication as well as innovation and the development of inspection processes and maintenance procedures. Beyond this the role will concentrate on customer satisfaction and, most importantly, the safety of their workforce, customers and neighbours.
Who we're looking for
Essential
• Chartered or near chartered surveyor
• Full driving licence
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to deal with members of the public
• Ability to act independently
• Knowledge of construction law and relevant Building Regulations
• Strong health and safety awareness including knowledge of the CDM Regulations
• Property management background desirable
• Experience of M+E assets
• Knowledge of Environmental and Heritage rules and regulations
• Project management and basic contract management, particularly in relation to standard construction contract forms (eg NEC or JCT)
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in a planned maintenance programme. They will have a strong commercial focus, excellent problem-solving skills and be able to implement and manage change. They will also need strong interpersonal and people skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to lead innovative property management programmes. This is a role that will demand energy, resilience and versatility.
