As Purchasing Specialist you will be responsible for the management of Capital and Revenue Investments in support of the business based in Barrow in Furness. Responsibilities will include;-
1. Responsible for the sourcing and management of a profile of Capital Projects and other commodities within the Customer Support and Procurement Team.
2. Accountable for the achievement of cost saving targets in accordance with targets agreed
3. Responsible for strategic supplier negotiations and the formation of Framework agreements where necessary.
4. Establishment of close working relationships with key/ strategic suppliers, in order to increase understanding of cost drivers. Understand the commercial impact of engineering changes, utilise Cost Engineering input in negotiations and ultimately deliver bottom line savings to the business.
5. Responsibility for the delivery schedules of procured equipment and services in line with Major Project timescales
6. Personal responsibility for ensuring timely, early engagement of Procurement into Programme activity and securing Procurements influence in making sourcing decisions for all spend under your control
7. Responsible for strategic supplier management ensuring that all Commercial terms and Conditions are understood and that Commercial exposure is minimised by flow down of appropriate conditions through the supply chain
8. Responsible for reviewing supplier stability prior to commitment.
9. Conduct all activities in line with the IPS Quality Management Systems, ensuring a robust audit trail is created in so doing.
10. Responsible for the delivery of personal business objectives in support of wider departmental goals.
11. Support to the Commodity Team s as necessary to ensure departmental and wider business strategy is fulfilled.
12. Contribution towards the development of a strong customer focused Team Culture within the Indirect Procurement function.
13. Delivery of strong client relationships for internal customers e.g. ensuring Programmes are understood and mapped out to give visibility of internal resource requirements.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within Procurement and be able to demonstrate a broad level of understanding in both Engineering and Business. Candidates will also be CIPS qualified or equivalent.
