• Provide VAT consulting advice and practical assistance on a wide variety of international VAT issues to both internal and external clients.
• Provide VAT technical advice and practical assistance to clients in regulating their local VAT compliance matters throughout the EU and beyond.
• Review the work of junior consultants to ensure that it is technically accurate, commercial and easily understandable.
• Service and grow a portfolio of multinational, blue-chip clients.
• Conceptualise, prepare and deliver suitable training presentations, both internally and externally.
• Talk knowledgeably to clients and prospective clients about Meridian's VAT consultancy and compliance offering.
• Contribute to the research and writing of articles on topical VAT issues for publication in Meridian newsletters and external professional publications.
• Represent Meridian in various industry groups and before governments, VAT administrations and the EU Commission.
• Build and maintain successful working relationships with internal Meridian departments in order to ensure the highest quality of service to clients.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate for the SeniorVAT Manager based in London will combine the right attitude and personality with a high degree of technical proficiency.
Professional Background
The ideal candidate will:
• Be a competent VAT professional, with at least 3-5 years experience in a professional consultancy practice or industry.
• Be at least VAT Manager or equivalent grade.
• Have a VAT, tax or accounting qualification, although this is not a strict requirement.
Technical Knowledge
The ideal candidate will:
• Have an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of principle European Union VAT legislation, and in depth application in at least one Member State.
• A good working knowledge of European jurisprudence and key cases.
• An awareness and understanding of VAT and equivalent indirect taxes in other parts of the world.
Soft Skills
The ideal candidate will:
• Have excellent communication, organisational, negotiating and interpersonal skills.
• Be commercially aware.
• Have the ability to increase revenues through the growth of consultancy and advisory services.
• Be an intelligent, dynamic individual who can interact at a senior level.
• Be passionate and highly ambitious with a commercial slant.
