This is a hands on Internal Audit Manager role function, leading an established team of auditors and making a significant contribution to corporate governance in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide the Partnership and other stakeholders with assurance that effective and appropriate controls are in place to manage risk
• Design and deliver the annual audit monitoring plan and ensure that risk awareness and appropriate controls are embedded throughout the business
• Maintaining and develop a risk based internal audit methodology to ensure that audit assignments are focused on key risk areas and are performed efficiently.
• Ensure that plans, policies and audit activities meet professional standards and work closely with the Operational Risk and Regulatory Risk teams to ensure activities are complimentary.
• Manage and lead the entire audit assignment process, including detailed planning of audit assignments, audit testing, and reporting. This includes leading audit related meetings with management.
• Review audit findings and draft audit reports, ensuring that audit issues are communicated, agreed and resolved as early as possible.
• Provides Management with advice and support and manages the feedback processes and follow-up of reported audit findings
• Produce regular audit reports and summaries for Committees and Boards.
• Support the Head of Business Risk and Internal Audit in managing relationships with the Committees and Boards, Senior Management, employees, and external parties including the Financial Services Authority, external auditors and clients.
• Determine any requirement for specialist audit work and liaise as necessary with external auditors/consultants
• Produce the annual Report on Internal Controls (AAF 01/06) including design, drafting, response to issues and distribution. Liaise with the external auditors and departments to facilitate testing and reporting.
• Keep up to date with industry developments in audit techniques, with particular attention to regulatory developments.
• Represent the firm at relevant industry groups.
• Manage the team including preparation of audit business plans and staff training, development and appraisals.
• Perform ad hoc projects and special reviews as requested.
Who we're looking for
• Experienced audit professional with a recognised accountancy or audit qualification
• Strong understanding of audit and risk management practices with a successful track record in leading audit teams with accountability for the delivery of audit plans
•The ability to communicate and influence at all levels
• Pragmatic and assertive and have experience of presenting to Committees and Boards
