This Oxfordshire based positionis a fantastic, broad, Generalist role for a Senior HR Advisor calibre candidate. Some of the key requirements for this role include:
• Take specific responsibility for managing the recruitment and selection process for uncommon, specialist and/or senior roles; determine the requirement, gain approval from local senior managers and commission Shared Services.
• Manage complex HR issues, e.g. discipline, grievance, local benchmarking, departmental restructures, flexible working, re-location, protection, temporary duty allowance, special priority payments, bonus payments, etc.
• In collaboration with the appropriate HR contact, contribute to the development of initiatives (new practices and processes) that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the newly evolving organisation wide HR service.
• Conduct local audits to monitor and improve the active management of HR issues, e.g. provision of performance management information, trend analysis, recommendations and comparison to Force targets, etc
• Concentrates on issues that support the broad organisational strategy and makes sure own team's ways of working (direct and indirect line management) are aligned with that strategic direction.
• Encourage others to learn and develop, giving clear and direct guidance and feedback on performance. Encourages and supports staff, by ensuring they are motivated to achieve results and provides the appropriate mentoring / risk assessment to ensure maximum Organisational benefits are attained.
• Understands the needs, talents, capabilities and interests of staff. Actively creates opportunities to learn and develop, giving advice where necessary, and addressing training needs to promote progression in career development.
• Works with senior management team, and the appropriate shared service contact, to create the right climate for effective working and encouraging individuals to work to their full potential ('right numbers of staff are in the right places with the right skill sets'). For example, review retirement profile, actings, workforce mix, etc.
• In partnership with the HR Manager, continuously review and seek efficiencies in the cost of providing and / or procuring recruitment, resources and welfare services.
• Work with Reward and Benefits team when making complex financial decisions concerning salary changes.

Who we're looking for
Some of the key skills required fro this role include:
1. Achieved vocational qualification (e.g. CIPD accreditation including evidence of continued professional development to graduate calibre) with previous generalist HR experience.
2. Previous and recent managerial experience
3. Knowledge of and ability to apply current employment legislation across a broad HR spectrum of complex issues (grievance, discipline, pay, etc)
4. Proven ability to persuade and influence others using logic and reason to achieve a satisfactory outcome. Examples may include: handling complex cases across a range of HR and ER issues, including grievance, discipline, etc.
5. Proven ability to communicate ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing. Confident and able to adapt style when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, and at all levels. Able to challenge in an appropriate manner and to remain impartial when dealing with complex cases (e.g. grievance, poor performance, etc)
6. Relevant IT skills with the ability and willingness to assimilate technological advances
7. Good analytical skills; post holder is expected to exercise personal initiative, make judgements and decisions on fairly complex issues within policy and procedural guidelines but with little guidance from the HR Manager.
