Assistant Financial Controller

Reporting directly to the group financial controller you will assume day to day control of the finance team.
Key responsibilities:
• Investigates highly complex enquiries providing assistance and advice as required and contributes to corporate reporting/providing strategic/ business planning advice.

• Prepares and completes statutory accounts and returns, ensuring that work is accurate and completed in line with financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary.

• Ensures financial information is processed in accordance with procedures through completion of own work and through the coordination of the work of others

• The Assistant Financial Controller will be responsible for the operational budgetary financial management and costing processes for a specific Directorate(s). The post holder will also have responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of financial control and probity within specific Directorate activities.

• Provides advice on financial issues which are often complex and additionally provides the necessary support to the Organisations Management Team for specific area of responsibility and contributes to the financial information included inoperational Business Cases.

• To deputise for the Group Financial Controller, when required.

Who we're looking for
• A fully qualifiedaccountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
• Demonstrate a proven record of achievement in financial management, including the ability to provide advice at Directorate level
• Ability to communicate effectively by giving and receiving complex information and an ability to advise non-finance colleagues on financial matters
• Proven ability to manage staff, including the necessary supervisory/co-coordinating skills.
