This academic role will report directly into the Head of Staff Development & Research and will have 7 direct reports.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
• To co-ordinate and lead the planning and development of the curricula for which the division is responsible.
• To focus on the delivery of the strategic plan of the faculty in line with strategic priorities of the organisation.
• Whilst ensuring the delivery of quality programmes and curricula, which fulfil faculty andorganisational aims and quality standards, to also do so employing effective and efficient use of the human and physical resources within the division, including the recruitment, probation, promotion, management and succession planning of staff. .
• To support the Head of Programmes and Cluster Leaders in the development of programmes, encouraging creativity and innovation.
• To assist in the co-ordination of this work with other divisions, partner institutions and external stakeholders.
• To provide academic leadership and guidance for the research and third stream funded activity conducted in the division. This will require a close working relationship with not just leading academics within the division, but also the Head of Business Development and External Relations and Cluster Leaders.
• To work to achieve divisional objectives through active collaboration with other divisions, research centres and faculties in the wider faculty and university
• To co-ordinate the overall appraisal and performance management of staff in the division and to personally appraise staff in conjunction with other specifically approved colleagues. To ensure the contribution and capability of staff in the division is enhanced through the appraisal process and to monitor the effectiveness of this process including the maintenance of records of staff development activity.
• To support the Head of Programmes, the Head of Staff Development and Research and the Cluster Leaders in the monitoring and reviewing of the practice and quality of teaching, learning and assessment in a consistent manner.
• To assist the Head of Programmes and Cluster Leaders by ensuring that the learning experience and learning environment of students is reviewed and enhanced through the annual monitoring process and through active engagement with appropriate external agencies and professional bodies.
Who we're looking for
Key personal Skills
a) Strong interpersonal skills
b) Staff coordination and leadership
Knowledge
c) A strong background in HE (either through direct experience or a commitment to further your own education eg Phd or MBA)coupled with a specialist knowledge in accounting or finance, with knowledge in finance, forensic accounting or financial reporting particularly valued.
Past experience
d) Strong background in HE (again either through experience or by showing a commitment to continued learning/development
e) The development and delivery of innovativeprogrammes/initiatives.
f) Leading a team for a concerted period of time.
