Regional Operations Manager

Warehouse & Distribution

South of England

The overall objective of this role is to optimise the Operations and Distribution network across the South of England ensuring internal & external SLA's are achieved within agreed budget levels.
Our client currently has 10 Distribution Centres across the South, by 2010 our client expects relocation of all sites to a National Distribution Centre based in the Midlands.

In addition to managing the change / relocation process and ensuring day to day operations and service levels are unaffected during this time your responsibilities will include -

• Successfully managing and supporting Inventory, Despatch, Warehouse and Transport teams
• Lead regional distribution network (both in house & 3rd party), Warehouse and Transport operations in order to deliver against SLA's and agreed budget
• Ensuring cost effective negotiations and excellent relations are built and maintained with all third party vendors and transport providers
• Accountable for agreeing, managing and delivering an annual budget of 50million gbp
• Accountable for stock replenishment and service for up to 700 stores
• Responsible for up to 1500 indirect reports
• Develop and maintain strong and effective partnerships with Trade Unions, central supply and stock planning teams
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and company policies, including Health, Safety, Employment, Environment and loss prevention
• Ensure best practice in stock management and mitigation of stock loss
• Promote continuous improvement and ensure best practice across all Operations in Southern Distribution Centres
• Responsible for all disciplinary issues up to and including appeals

Who we're looking for
To be considered for this role you will have successfully managed relocation or close down of Operational Distribution facilities in the UK.
Additional requirements are -

• Strong leadership / team building ability with emphasis on coaching and development
• Strong analytical and problem solving ability with commercial acumen
• Project / Change management exposure
• Minimum ten years direct exposure to Warehouse and Distribution environments
• Self starter with drive and resilience
