Responsible for providing a professional and cost effective computerised estimating service to the Project Team and provision of tender analysis to the Directors, Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Operational Managers. Assisting in the profitable delivery of contracts and the preparation of estimates for billing schemes based on Bills of Quantities (including contractor design), Specification and Drawings and Schedules of rates.
Principle Accountabilities
· Provision of Estimating services to the Project Team, ensuring continuity of work and profitability of the team.
· To maintain and generate close working relationships with customers both internal and external, ensuring delivery of high customer service, through interpretation of ideas and plans.
· To advise team members of relevant opportunities as identified through knowledge of the industry and profitable areas of work.
Key Tasks
· To obtain contracts by competitive tender, best value and negotiation, to maintain sufficient work load on behalf of the Project Team
· To provide accurate forecasts on up to date market trends based on knowledge of the industry and communicate this information to appropriate personnel including advising senior managers on potential profitable areas of work.
· Determine a realistic tender strategy for each scheme
· Develop effective working relationships through close liaison with clients and operational managers and develop/revise working methods to increase customer satisfaction and business profitability.
· Regularly review library data, developing new procedures/practices to suit non standards styles of measurement and provide an excellent standard of customer service.
· Understand, implement and effectively communicate legislative, technical, contractual and building practice changes to ensure the continuous improvement of service delivery.
· Attend meetings, where appropriate, as the Estimating representative.
· Regularly monitor the progress and financial performance of schemes to inform future estimates. Prepare through statistical and written reports and participate within the re

Who we're looking for
Detailed knowledge of Building
Previousknowledgewithin estimating, looking for evidence of
· estimating techniques
· methods of measurement
· estimating codes of practice
· tendering procedures
· reading drawings and taking off quantities
· work up and abstract from drawings dimensions in accordance with standard method of measurement seventh edition.
· Preparation of Bill of Quantities.
· Transferring client ideas into practical schemes.
Effective communication both oral and written of complex data
Ability to plan and manage own workload (prioritising)
Evidence of ability to analyse and problem solve from written tender documents.
Proven track record in delivery of high quality customer service
Driving licence and access to vehicle.
IT literate
Problem Solving
Planning
Co ordination of tasks
Desirable -
Knowledge within the construction industry
Membership of or working towards membership of CIOB RICS or equivalent degree.
