The Finance function's is an organization designed to deliver financial services to the businesses and functions. Role synopsis Lead a team of 9 qualified, part qualified and trainee financial accountants to deliver Finance Group Reporting services and other functions. Execution of timely quarterly and annual close processes and accurate reporting in accordance with Finance Standards and Practices, IFRS, UK GAAP. Support the delivery of timely and accurate UK statutory accounts and Corporation Tax analyses. Ensure that the Internal Control environment is robust and applied for the processes which fall within the team's accountabilities.
The position reports to the Financial Accounting and Performance Reporting (FA&PR) Process Lead. It is a high profile position and consequently the incumbent will be required to develop high levels of credibility, and work closely with Group Accounts, BP Finance, Head of Accounting Policy for Corporate Functions & Regions, Group Tax and Company Secretariat. Team Lead Role (30%-40% of time)
Member of the FA&PR Process leadership team and deputise for the FA&PR Process Lead as appropriate
Represent FA&PR in matters of Group Reporting with business/function clients supported by the team, and other parties as appropriate. Continually strive for improvement in quality of financial ledgers through training & influence of all parties Plan, organise and lead Group Reporting activities within team's scope of activity according to the Finance reporting calendar. Sustain and enhance the team capabilities through staff selection, recruitment, training, development coaching, counselling and succession planning
Covered by the team:
- Support Function clients in understanding GL and Group reporting pertaining to them
- Ensure financial ledgers are optimally structured to efficiently deliver Group, Statutory, MI, Direct & Indirect Tax reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate GAIT submissions and drive for consistent improvement of key KPI's
- Support progress towards standardised close processes and timetables across all financial ledgers.
- Provide support for the UK Statutory accounts audit and filing and ensure the team complies with co controls

Who we're looking for
You will be a qualified accountant ideally ACA, with PLC reporting experience from a large company, have current knowledge of technical finance under IFRS and GAAP and have experience of supervising a team of 9 or more.
