The Supplier Quality Engineer will be based in the Midlands. The main responsibilities of the role are;
• Responsible for improving and developing Supply Chain Quality Performance, through evaluation, audit, and verification of Suppliers and their sub-tiers manufacturing and assembly processes, controls and capabilities.
• To ensure Supplier and Sub-tier compliance with regulatory, customer and internal requirements
• Supporting Supplier Development initiatives in developing a capable Supply Chain
• Investigating supplier related problems, ensuring that supplier responses to non-conformances are timely with associated root cause corrective actions satisfactorily implemented.
• Co-ordinating and reacting to, priorities identified from poor Quality Performance including devising and execution of Quality Improvement Plans with individual suppliers.
• Investigating and reporting on Supplier poor performance, disclosures or escapes to enable risk and impact assessments to be accurately and promptly made.
• Supporting Material / Failure Review Boards and processes as required.
• Participating in Manufacturing / Procurement Review boards.
Who we're looking for
DESIRED:
• Demonstrated pro-active problem resolution and improvement plan generation with the ability to meet and exceed Green Belt level.
• Good knowledge of lean techniques and implementation desirable.
• Able to develop strong, positive working relationships with key suppliers with the goal of Quality improvement.
• The ability to work as a Team Member, and influence other departments
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Qualified Production Engineering / Engineering background.
• Supplier auditing background, preferably within Aerospace or Automotive. However, a suitable candidate, with the right knowledge would be trained if they had not worked as an auditor or in Quality before.
• Proven background in problem solving techniques with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions / improvement plans, particularly in a supply chain environment.
• Strong general knowledge of relevant manufacturing and assembly processes.
• A working knowledge of AS9100, in design, development and production would be an advantage.
• Good general knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical components and processes is essential.
• This role will entail travel, both nationally and internationally.
• Current UK driving licence.
