Our client a Top10 Accountancy Practice based in Guildford is currently looking for a VAT Senior.
.
1. To ensure that the VAT assignment is undertaken in accordance with the pre-assignment instructions, and to carry out all aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm's procedures.
2. Provide support to the VAT Manager by offering assistance to all clients in relation to indirect taxes, to ensure maximum saving for the clients.
3. Assist with VAT health checks in order to help clients plan for VAT transactions, hence maximising tax savings and minimising exposure to penalties.
4. Develop and maintain an advanced technical knowledge in order to act as day to day point of contact for the client.
5. Practice the principles of excellent client service at all times. Equally to assist with business development as required.
6. Respond to client requests in accordance with the firm's internal guidelines through ensuring all VAT advice goes through the internal review procedure.
7. Provide a consistently helpful and proactive service to clients and help identify possible internal and external opportunities.
8. Assist the VAT Manager with internal training to audit staff, managers and partners in order to increase VAT awareness throughout the firm and assist with identifying potential VAT issues
9. Achieve annual chargeable hours target in order for the service to remain cost effective for the office.
Provide support to the regional VAT team attending other offices and clients of other offices as required. As a result, flexibility is required.
Who we're looking for
Experience
• Minimum of three years' experience working in either a professional accountancy practice or alternatively in HM Revenue and Customs at VAT Assurance Officer or equivalent level.
• University degree desirable
• 3 A levels or equivalent required
• May be part-way through studying for a professional Tax qualification. Study support available for ATT/CTA.
