An essential role within the finance department you will have responsibility for leading the preparation and the production of the annual accounts. Furthermore, you will ensure effective and appropriate financial controls are in place at London South Bank University.

As part of a varied role your main focus will include preparing consolidated annual accounts for the University and its subsidiaries. Your responsibility will include preparing various returns including the HESA financial returns while undertaking tax work including preparation of VAT returns for the University. This role also extends to management of the fixed assets register.

As a core member of the finance team you will coordinate the risk management framework while managing the chart of accounts and its development. This includes implementing and advising on appropriate accounting policies and procedures.

Along with the above this role extends its responsibility to managing the financial accountants in the department, managing the month end process while operating and delivering a customer focused service to the University and all stakeholders involved with the organisation.

Who we're looking for
The right candidate will be a degree educated CCAB qualified accountant with practical experience of the following:

Managing financial accounting processes
Managing financial control processes
Accounting for VAT
Staff management
Communicating with a wide variety of people in a work environment
Charitable funds experience (desirable)
