An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to join this successful and highly reputable company. Working at the European head office in Huddersfield, the Purchasing team is responsible for the procurement of all components from European Suppliers, for distribution to the Global Marketplace. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Purchasing Team is responsible for negotiating supplier contracts.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for:
• Managing a team of commodity buyers, managing the day to day activities as well as supporting their development and progression within the Purchasing Team
• Monitoring employee performance and executing employee appraisals
• Ensuring the contracts put in place by the team are commercially beneficial to the business and conform to the required quality standards
• Assisting the buyers with negotiations, taking responsibility for negotiating high value contracts as necessary
• Managing and overseeing preventative and corrective actions, and managing process improvements and the development of supplier performance metrics
• Successfully building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, which will be crucial to maintaining the company's competitive edge in the marketplace, through favourable costs and terms and conditions
• Implementing processes and procedures to ensure consistency and maintain the expected high standards on all purchases made
• Offering ideas and solutions to existing processes, which will benefit the business
• Building strong cross-functional internal business relationships, taking a consultative approach on projects and day to day operations
• Communicating to and reporting at all levels of the global business
Who we're looking for
The right candidate will have excellent Purchasing knowledge within Aerospace, Automotive or high-spec Engineering. You will also:
• Have been successful at managing and developing a team of buyers
• Have experience of working to exceptionally high quality standards and have a high level of commercial awareness.
• Have demonstrable experience in creating strong suppler relationships
• Be keen and quick to learn about the company, it's products, it's stakeholders and marketplace, and be able to start delivering results from day one.
• Be comfortable and proficient in communicating and building relationships at all levels within the business
• Be open minded and flexible in your approach to change.
