Job Role
Under the supervision of the Head of Accounting and with the aid of an Assistant, the Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for the following tasks :

Financial systems and processes
- Perform a key role in the implementation of a Management Information System (MIS) and in the development and adaptation of guidelines and processes for the new system.
- Write the operating guidelines for accounting functions based on the process descriptions and manage their implementation on a global basis.
- Manage the implementation of an Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable system.
- Take a leading role in the review and implementation of the Internal Control System at Headquarters and in the Regional and Country Offices (RCOs).
- Participate in the business analyses process in preparation for the reorganization of the accounts structure.
- Assist in the design and improvement of accounting procedures.
- Design report formats and report writing.

Finance and accounting
- Membership financial management: validation of entries, membership reporting, aged analysis and calculation of provisions.
- Integration of the membership financial functions into the accounting department and conversion to MIS system.
- Current accounts with RCOs: validation of entries, management of the current accounts and streamlining of the process (intermediate task pending the implementation of an MIS).
- Manage the reconciliation of all global ledger balance sheet accounts, bank account reconciliations, asset registers and control the validity of the global accounts, entries and reports.
- Investigation and handling of long-outstanding balances in preparation of the new MIS system in cooperation with the Senior Accounts Officer.
- Accounting for a Trust and a Trust Fund.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

- University degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, Accounting or Financial Management.
- Ideally to have progressive experience in accounting and finance.
- Membership of a professional accounting and/or financial body desirable.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
- Personal diplomacy and discretion.
- Sensitive to working with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
- Ability to take initiative, and work with creativity and flexibility.
