To have complete ownership and responsibility for defined category of spend on behalf of the Group. Including ownership of the associated supplier base, development of commercial relationships with preferred suppliers, and the removal of non-preferred suppliers.
The category manager is responsible for the identification and implementation of specified savings targets by adopting strategic sourcing techniques that deliver bottom-line improvements.
Who we're looking for
• To achieve and exceed agreed Group procurement savings, through specific category sourcing projects.
• Spend responsibility circa +$50 million.
• Be the focal point and recognised sourcing expert within their category of spend.
• Continually monitor and understand product consumption and spend profiles within their category of spend using available company management information tools.
• Negotiate preferred supplier contracts that significantly reduce total cost of supply, without compromise to delivery or service performance.
• Continually seek opportunities to reduce the associated supply base by working with sites to eliminate sources of supply and thereby focus total commercial leverage with fewer suppliers.
• Religiously focus on reducing non compliant spend within their category of spend using professional procurement approaches.
• To continually develop product and supplier market knowledge.
• To develop and maintain strong relationships with local sites and external suppliers to assist in achieving the above.
• To ensure that Strategic Sourcing projects are undertaken in compliance with the defined Sourcing methodology
• Ultimately, the Category Manager is responsible for recommending closure and signature to deals on behalf of the Group, within their designated category of spend. This assumes a professional sourcing process has been undertaken involving the respective end-users
About our client
• Ability to work under pressure and focus on set deliverables to agreed timescales, without deviation.
• Strong negotiation skills to persuade and influence internal personnel to switch sources of supply where applicable, comply with preferred suppliers, and to achieve favourable terms with suppliers
• Excellent commercial awareness and ability to identify areas for cost reduction on a group level.
