Commercial Control
• Raise and maintain supplier purchase orders
• Deal with all aspects of the supply chain from source to warehouse
• Close Liaison with suppliers to effectively plan and manage the intake of stock
• Ensure on time availability and monitor supplier performance
• Manage sales, stock and markdowns within season to agreed targets.
Planning and forecasting
• To set and meet stretch targets and personal objectives.
• To input into budget setting and other financial planning activities.
• Produce in season line level sales forecasts, react to changing sales patterns and maximising stock availability
• Produce weekly sales trend information
• Provide ad hoc product/range/supplier analysis where necessary
• Develop range plans for new goods in stores
Monitoring and controlling
• Ensure effective communication of relevant issues across the department
• Monitor levels of full price and reduced price stock
• Review weekly performance and KPI's
• Measure supplier performance against KPI's and Service Level Agreements
Risk management
• To comply with the organisation's Health and Safety policy, Disabilities Discrimination regulations and security systems.
• To ensure legal compliance re products
Who we're looking for
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Experience of stock control within a head office environment
• Strong commercial and retail awareness
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
• Influencing and negotiating skills
• Knowledge and understanding of the retail sector including competitor awareness and appreciation of emerging trends in the industry
• Effective time management skills with an ability to prioritise, be proactive and work smartly
• IT skills in stock control systems, Word, Excel, power point, email and the Internet
• Strong numerical skills for forecasting and budgeting
• A commitment to equal opportunities
• Knowledge of Health and Safety issues as they affect shops and field staff
Budget Responsibility
• To manage an expenditure budget of £500,000. Authorisation of expenditure will be deferred to the line manager.
Working contacts
The post holder will work cross functionally with a number of external and internal departments building close, constructive, mutually beneficial working relationships.
These departments include:
Retail & Home Shopping team.
Supporter Relations & Fundraising teams.
Finance including management accounts.
IS&T
Cross-functional working will involve:
Planning.
Customer service.
