The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates through effective deployment of resources and proper application of Company Policy.
Responsibilities include
• Prepare estimates and complete pricing work in support of tender submissions, proposals for new business opportunities and existing contracts in accordance with the Company quality standards and procedures.
• Meet the required 'Tender Date' of each new enquiry and analyse and compile accurately priced and timely submissions in line with company procedures and quality standards and ensuring that all estimates cover the requirements of the contract.
• Represent the company by dealing with Customers, Suppliers, Consultants and Stakeholders in a manner, which enhances the company's reputation.
• Promote excellence in Health and Safety through the estimating function
Who we're looking for
Key tasks include:
• Assist in defining specifications through accurate and timely estimates to provide better production, cover costs and better suitability to the customer and the company
• Prepare estimates in support of tender submissions and proposals based on realistic prices for the project
• Prepare all tenders according to their estimating procedures
• Carry out analytical comparisons of unit rates to ensure the company obtains competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Undertake site visits in preparation of tenders when required
• Advise the project team on all aspects of the estimating process following a successful tender at the pre-contract meeting with both new and existing clients
• Use estimating knowledge in pricing similar work for key customers ensuring consistency
• Conduct job cost studies and analyse and feedback results
• Assist in the negotiation of suitable project amendments to mitigate risks
• Assist in determining the level of risk associated with the project identifying mitigating action to be taken
• Ensure that all risks are identified and costed appropriately
• Review the pricing of principal suppliers whilst ensuring that they are sufficient to meet all obligations
• Ensure that suppliers are procured in accordance with the authority limits prescribed by the company
