Shipping Manager

Reporting directly to the Logistics Director, you will be responsible for a team comprising of a shipping supervisor , supplier compliance operative and two clerks responsible for the planning and execution of intake totalling 400,000units per week, from global origins.
Responsibilities include:
• To organise and manage global logistics service providers, and ensure their consistent and effective integration with retail operations. This will include the negotiation of freight rates with key service providers.
• To manage the supply base against a set compliance structure.
• To manage and develop reporting personnel, to meet internal delivery and cost performance standards.
• To ensure and manage compliance with foreign trade regulations, deploying corporate policy accordingly.
• To robustly and consistently support the effective operation of the Distribution Centre.
• To identify and implement best practise in relation to global distribution operations, and to influence strategic decision making within the logistics function of the group.
• To provide inbound logistics expertise and guidance to functional peer groups, incorporating buying and merchandising, finance and outbound logistics.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre, with a proven track record in FMCG/ Retail commercial shipping. A knowledge of global operations and supply management is essential. Good communication skills and project management experience are expected, as is the desire to continually explore further opportunities for business excellence.
