This is a fantastic opportunity to join Zurich International Life (Zurich) as a Commercial Lawyer for their Isle of Man business which is enjoying a period of sustained growth and expansion.
You will work with the Governance team reporting directly to the Head of Legal who is based in Reading, UK.
Key accountabilities will include:
• Taking responsibility for providing legal advice throughout the business unit
• Ensuring that advice accurately reflects prevailing law and practice
• Mitigating legal risk and assisting with commercial risk mitigation and regulatory compliance
• Managing, coaching and professional development of other lawyers within the business unit
Legal advice within the business is dependent on regional/international differences in law and this will require working with a range of lawyers in different offices around the world, as well as with external lawyers in different countries. You will work on a range of cases and issues and provide commercial, legal advice to management and advice on new projects and developments.
Who we're looking for
Above all we seek an individual who thrives on working in an autonomous fashion and in a truly global context. You will have a significant track record of success built up post qualification in either an in-house or private practice environment. Candidates with experience gained as a commercial lawyer with experience of the insurance industry are particularly sought.
In addition you will have:
• English or Isle of Man legal qualifications
• Strong commercial contract drafting skills
• Knowledge of the life insurance industry, with particular offshore industry knowledge being very advantageous.
• Experience of managing/supervising lawyers as a team leader
Previous experience of operating internationally and across cultures is ideal as are strong analytical and investigative skills. We seek an individual who can demonstrate strong influencing and persuasion skills, inspirational leadership qualities and advanced team working abilities. As this is a high pressure and delivery focused business the successful candidate will be well suited to working under these conditions.
