Aerovac are looking for a Senior buyer to join the team at their Manufacturing site in Keighley, Bradford.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the role of Senior Buyer is a vast and varied one, working in a fast paced environment. The role encompasses many elements of materials management & purchasing including:-

• Materials control, ensuring continuity of supply
• Monitoring stock levels
• PO placement & invoice sign off
• Developing new and/or alternative sources of supply
• Purchasing efficiently & effectively to achieve the best value
• Developing relevant processes & procedures
• Supplier appraisal & selection
• Work on NPD projects
• Monitor market conditions & trends
• Negotiating with suppliers
• Expediting orders
• Demand management
• Managing the supplier base & developing relationships
• Building & maintaining vendor management metrics
• Maintaining the value/quality balance
• Preparation of specifications

The Senior Buyer will also influence group spend across other sites, leveraging economies of scale wherever possible. You will have to work with a complex supply base in a difficult market, where sometimes there is a single source of supply, and in other categories there may be numerous options. You will be expected to use creative ideas to add value to the supply chain and implement initiatives to save costs by simplifying, restructuring, and negotiating.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate for this role will be comfortable working in a fast paced and broad scope environment. You will need to understand and appreciate the technical side of the product range and implications on the supply chain. A background in chemicals, plastics or engineering, would be an advantage, but any manufacturing or processing industry background will be considered.
Experience of inventory planning, supplier quality, and expediting is an advantage, but purchasing is key. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the impact of total cost of acquisition, showing ability to query all aspects of the product life cycle.
