To provide a high quality HR service to designated service areas to support efficient and effective service delivery, under the mentorship of an HR Business Partner

Facilitate good practice in all aspects of HR Management and work towards improving the management of Human Resources across the organisation.
Key Areas of Responsibility

• Support and advise Line Managers on employment relations issues relating to grievances and disciplinaries, sickness absence, performance management, termination of employment, equality and diversity, employment legislation, maternity processes and organisational change management.

• Support services and managers on organisational/service changes issues, including close working with staff side representatives which may involve TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings, Protection of Employment) and redundancy issues.

• Act as a mediator in areas of conflict, to facilitate a mutually acceptable resolution.

• Take accurate formal minutes at Disciplinary and Grievance Hearings which may be used at Employment Tribunals and Court Hearings.

• Ensuring consistent application of Trust policies and procedures and adherence to employment law.

• Support and advise managers to ensure a fair, supportive and consistent application of the Sickness Absence Policy, ensuring that standards are achieved and maintained.

• Provide effective HR advice and support to managers in formal investigations into complaints of bullying, harassment, disciplinary and grievance issues. This requires interpreting information, recording facts, producing reports and attending hearings as well as supporting managers on disciplinary or grievance panels.
• Design and deliver training on human resources issues e.g. disciplinary and grievance, Recruitment and Selection, PDP's, KSF, sickness absence management. This includes the compulsory HR skills module on Introduction to the Management Leadership Programme.

• Organise and deliver training sessions in conjunction with HR Business Partners and Learning and Development staff, relating to policies and procedures.

• Support and advise members of staff in relation to work related issues which can be highly distressing and sensitive. This includes supporting bereaved families of staff members and advising on financial issues / pensions.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be...
• Educated to A Level standard and/or equivalent
• Graduate member of CIPD
• Demonstrate a range of generalist HR knowledge and experience gained through experience as an HR Advisor/practitioner.
• Experience of employee relations issues within a unionised environment
• Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and its application
• Determination, resilience and energy
• Demonstrate an awareness of own strengths and limitations
• Effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills
• Effective presentation and organisational skills
• Able to communicate information to staff at all levels of the organisation
• Effective negotiation skills
• Able to deliver training on HR policies and procedures
• Able to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner
• Able to build positive relationships with managers; colleagues and staff side representatives
• Able to maintain professional relationships with external contacts/organisations
• Able to advise on grievance/discipline and sickness issues
• Able to interpret and advise on policy and procedure and employment legislation
• Able to carry out complex personal workload, balancing competing demands in a flexible way.
• Computer literate and able to use MS Office applications
• Driving licen
