As Buyer you will be expected to:

• Assume responsibility for a proportion of the company's £multi-million spend on raw materials, packaging and services.

• Determine and implement effective strategies to minimise cost and risk whilst maintaining a high level of delivery and quality performance within each category supply chain.

• Contribute to and/or lead commercial contract negotiations with suppliers within the job holders allocated spend categories.

• Negotiate improved terms and conditions for goods and services with existing and new suppliers with a focus on key cost, quality and service level objectives.

• Work closely with Product Managers and Technical personnel to develop alternative materials and supply sources. Evaluate potential new suppliers and supply solutions.

• Work with key suppliers on identifying programmes designed to add value.

• Participate in Group purchasing projects on a regular basis.

• Verify and maintain a comprehensive purchasing database to include price files, cost drivers and price indexes, supplier source data, purchase agreements and contracts, market information, current and historical activity, supplier performance evaluation data and other information as required.

• Carry out advance supply planning with suppliers to ensure future demands are capable of being met.

• Work with the decentralised Manufacturing Control teams to troubleshoot and resolve supply and quality issues.

• Resolve purchase transaction queries to ensure efficient invoice processing

Who we're looking for
The Ideal candidate will be:
• Of graduate calibre
• CIPS Qualified or who have demonstrable experience within a purchasing / supply chain role
• Experienced in driving best practice purchasing strategies, preferably within a manufacturing environment
• Experienced in the use of SAP.
